I began my career by studying economics in Basel. During a semester abroad in Helsinki, Finland, I gained valuable insights into international marketing. Afterward, I worked as a consultant for an IT and telecommunications company in the Netherlands for nearly a year. Back in Switzerland, I spent almost a decade in the business sector, first at a Swiss bank in Basel, followed by a role as a Public Relations consultant in Zug and Zurich. This experience equipped me with essential skills in providing professional consulting.

… Passionate Pastor and Coach

At the age of 33, I embarked–a transition out of conviction–on a five-year theological university program, which I completed in 2011. Since then, I have been serving as a pastor. From 2013 to 2022, I led a church planting project in Basel. I was fascinated by the interplay between theology, coaching, pastoral care and organizational leadership. In 2021, I trained as a coach with City to City Europe (CTCE), a church planting movement, and in 2023, I became a trainer.

Driven by a desire to accompany, support, and help people move forward, in Basel and beyond, I started “der_leologe.” The name “leologe” is a play on words from my first name, which means lion, and the word “theology”.

In addition to my ministry as an independent evangelical pastor and coach, I served as the head of coaching at CTCE in a part-time role for a year and a half, concluding in spring 2024. As a certified Gospel coach and trainer, I coached key individuals and trained new Gospel coaches through various coaching trainings.

Sports Enthusiast and Coffee Lover

On a personal note, I enjoy a good conversation over a good cup of coffee, mountain biking, puns, and slapstick. I have played the drums for over 30 years in a carnival clique in Basel and spent two years with the Top Secret Drum Corps some years ago. Since 2013, I have been on the board of the Fishermen’s Guild in Basel, providing support to the elderly and sick. I am also a member of the Ehrengesellschaft zum Rebhaus and, of course, a fan of our local football (soccer) club, FC Basel.

My Values

I believe that people have great potential and can achieve a lot through their own efforts. One of the primary goals of coaching is to develop this potential while considering all influencing factors. However, the holistic approach on which my coaching is based also assumes that people cannot (or do not have to) do everything themselves. Therefore, the Christian perspective or dimension can be incorporated into the coaching process if the person being coached agrees on that. This includes values such as the Ten Commandments, forgiveness, mercy, or loving your neighbor. Or the divine shalom—the comprehensive peace of God—as a guiding principle for identifying potential next steps.

As a pastor, I am bound by confidentiality, ensuring that no information is passed on without the consent of the person being coached. I also follow the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics in all my coaching sessions.
